The twin lambs are off on their great adventure, discovering that our little barnyard is not the whole world after all.
Babydoll twins Yin and Yang....or Jacob and Esau....or (the names that their new family will name them) are on their way.
Yesterday, we prepped them for the trip. Hooves trimmed. Booster shots given. Extra treats and scratches under the chins....
Today, we drove them to meet their new owners.
I couldn't have asked for a better placement for them.
They get to stay together. Their new family has children who will adore them. They will be in the company of other animals (goats) with a shelter made just for them.
I'm sad that they're gone, but so happy that the end situation for them is so perfect.
The barn feels a little empty, but we did keep Sunny and she is such a little sweetheart of a lamb.
Things haven't slowed down a bit, of course.
We are experimenting with the sheep "mowing" the grass (the goal we had in mind 2 years ago when we first brought Iris and April here) and kittens were born last night, and goats arrive tomorrow, and 2 pigs leave after the goats arrive.
Bea is in pre-labor discomfort, with piglets due a week from today.
Our new ram arrives tomorrow, to take over as leader of our tiny flock, as Iris (mother of the twin lambs) returns to her original home.
Baby bunnies are 3 weeks old, Barnevelder chicks hatched 2 days ago, Cayuga ducklings will hatch by the end of this week....
And there is lots of mess to clean up, as usual.
The whirlwind continues, even though two little cuties are gone. It's the way things need to be, and in this case, they have moved on to a farm where they will be spoiled and loved.
