Photos: Brother and sister from the much-loved litter of kittens born in the silo in May. And mama cat, feeling playful in the bales of hay.
Out in the barn, obsessing over my pig that seemed to be in labor....new life may have been started by our kittens that were born in May.
Not for lack of trying to avoid this little scenario. Every attempt to get the barn kitties fixed at the county clinic has fallen through.
This happened before, with mama cat (who we were told was a male) and her brother. Twin lambs were being born as brother and sister cats proved that they were not both male...
Her brother disappeared soon after the mating was witnessed. 4 kittens were born.
These two remain, and were uncharacteristically playful and snuggly while I was watching Bea, and became even more enamored with each other as the morning went on.
The boy kitten already has an underbite. Who knows what inbreeding will occur with another brother-sister pairing. And mama isn't fixed yet either. Ugh.
